Feb. OCSG Tea with Judith Tyner

Saturday February 11th, is the OCSG annual tea at Sunny Hills Church of Christ, Fullerton.  Judith Tyner, author of Stitching the World:  Embroidered Maps and Women’s Geographical Education” will be the guest speaker.  From the late 18th century for about 50 years, schoolgirls in the UK and America created embroidered map samplers and silk globes.  These samplers were designed to teach needlework and geography.  Come hear why an explosion of interest in geography caused by the American and French Revolutions and explorations of Lewis and Clark made the study of maps exciting and important.  Beginning at 10:00a,  our tea is also open to non-members, paid reservations must be made by February 9th, $30.00.  Contact Carol Hayes, chayes002@socal.rr.com  for more information.
