September meeting: Jenny Huff

September 16th meeting at 10:00am will feature Jenny (Santos) Huff, founder of Artesia High School’s “Needlepoint Millennials Club”.  Jenny will be speaking about her group and her mission to bring the art of needlepoint to high school students.  Her goal is to spread the joy and appreciation of needlepoint to high school students while providing an environment of creativity and relaxation.  She started the club in the winter of 2015 and today there are 70 + students who put down their electronics and stitch.  Meeting is at Sunny Hills Church of Christ in Fullerton, contact Carol Hayes for more information:



October Meeting: Catherine Theron

October 14th Catherine will be here teaching her Wee Sampler Sewing Book.  The book measures 4″ x 3″ and is an interpretation of an antique sampler in Catherine’s possession.   Inside a place to hold scissors, pincushion and needles.  This class takes place in Fullerton, Ca. and deadline date to sign up is Sept. 2nd contact Carol Hayes for more information  This kit is available by mail, deadline date to order 9/2



August Meeting: Linda Vinson

August 12th Linda will be teaching her Civil War Huswife which features authentic reproduction Civil War quilt fabric.  Linda’s presentation that goes with the piece will give some insight into the lives of the women that would have made such a huswife to send off with their son, husband, or beau.  An authentic Civil War era button is included.  Union or Confederate flag will be charted so you can choose if you would like to personalize with your very own Civil War ancestor.  Contact Carol Hayes for more information at  This class will be held in Fullerton, CA. and there is a deadline date of June 26th to sign-up.


April meeting: Arlene Baker’s Rose Pin & Wool Pincushion

Arlene will be with us for our April 8th meeting teaching her Paper Bag Rose pin.  A brown paper grocery bag is cut, layered and shaped to make an elegant paper rose that resembles leather.  Arlene’s special technique will produce a vintage like rose.  The small wool pincushion uses a bottle cap, felt, velvet floral embellishments and antique glass beads.  Contact Carol Hayes for more information.



Merry Cox – A Young Lady’s Workbox & My Heart Holds thy Love

September 17th Merry will be teaching two classes at OCSG.   The morning class will be devoted to Young Lady’s Workbox, a beautifully painted sewing box with compartments to hold your stitched treasures.  A stitched tray with very unique finishing, can be removed to hold threads, buttons, scissors, ruler, etc.  Also stitched a pincushion, pin keep, and needle case.  Kit includes hand painted workbox, all materials for stitching and finishing. merryworkbox

The afternoon class will be an exclusive class to OCSG My Heart Holds Thy Love, a Shaker mini carrier, 4 3/4″ x  3 1/4″ with a child’s hand as the pattern for the overlap.  Inside the carrier Merry has designed a heart made from velvet featuring hands and another heart reproduced from Merry’s collection which opens revealing love sentiments.  To complete the set a stitched banner held onto the handle with a vintage brass clip and sprig of antique German flowers. merrymyheartbox

Catherine Theron “Early Spring Lambs”Finish work


August 6th meeting will be devoted to finishing Early Spring Lambs with Carol Hayes and Joanne Seruto.  They will be leading this darling stitchery book and fob, a project for guilds by Catherine Theron.

Lynette Lundquist

May 14th meeting Lynette will be teaching her Vintage French Tray and Pin Book.

Using French inspired paper, ribbon and charms, the bottom of the tray is lined in French General linen fabric and embellished with French General ribbon.  The pin book has wool felt pages to house your favorite pins.  This class will be in Fullerton.
